Fire & Ice.

Hearth & Ice.

February 10, 2020

As a baby you feared an impending ice age greater than international warming, just like the one you had been taught befell the dinosaurs. You bear in mind winter in Chicago as everlasting, town outlined by it. Wind chill. Polar vortexes. Snowmageddon! From the automotive, you’d stare on the huge, frozen lake, observing the gulls huddled on chunks of blue-white ice surviving barely, or the poor soul strolling his canine amid the ruts passing for sidewalks. Questioning if winter would ever finish.

Now the world is on fireplace, heating up as if in a microwave. From California to Australia all is burning. It has grow to be the brand new regular. You as soon as learn {that a} frog will sit in a pot of water unmoved by the flame beneath it, slowly boiling to dying. (That this craven experiment may happen shouldn’t be the purpose.) Unable or unwilling to go away, the reptile permits itself to die one diploma at a time. Complacency? One in all lately, you want to begin driving an electrical automotive.

(Creator’s word: It is a small part from an autobiographical novel I’ve been writing for a while. It’s searching for a house. Ideas? Within the meantime, I admire your readership.)
